The Paramount Project
Project Overview
The Paramount Project is a joint affordable housing development between the BC government and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the City of Chilliwack, and Chilliwack Community Services, which operates on the building’s first two floors. The six-storey, mixed-use structure features concrete office and commercial retail spaces on the first and second floors, with 66 wood-frame residential suites on the top four levels, along with lounge areas and laundry facilities.
- The Paramount Building was the largest project by Chilliwack Community Services in its nearly 100-year history.
- The Paramount was built using Step Code 4 EcoPact concrete and sustainable wood construction.
- The units range from deep subsidy to under-market rental prices, with 58 units reserved for seniors and eight for young adults.
Building Multi-Use Developments for Vibrant Communities
The Paramount connects young adults leaving the child welfare system with seniors in the community, cultivating an informal network of support between generations and addressing a need for community and connections. By developing multi-use spaces that combine office, retail, and residential areas, we can create more affordable, walkable, and connected communities.
